Capacity & Preparatory Review

Report Submitted: December 2007
Site Visit: October 6-8, 2008

The Capacity and Preparatory Review serves two purposes:

  • Demonstrate that the institution “functions with clear purposes, high levels of institutional integrity, fiscal stability, and organizational structures and processes to fulfill its purposes.”
  • Demonstrate that the institution is prepared to fulfill its obligations for the Educational Effectiveness Review.

A WASC Reaccreditation Steering Committee, chaired by Accreditation Liaison Officer Judith L. Smith, provides leadership and coordination of the entire reaccreditation plan. Members include faculty, students and administrative leaders across campus.

Three Theme Workgroups were convened to assess and develop initiatives for three special themes: 1.) Capstone Experience, 2.) Facilitating Interdisciplinary Education and Research, and 3.) Educational Technology. These groups will draft the thematic essays required for the Capacity and Preparatory Review and play key roles in the Educational Effectiveness Review.

Four Reflective Essay Workgroups were appointed to draft the essays on: 1) General Education, 2) Diversity, 3) Academic Senate Program Reviews, 4) Academic Strategic Planning.
